It took two days, but the Lancaster Bible men's tennis team picked up its first North Eastern Athletic Conference victory of the season on Saturday as the Chargers defeated Penn College, 5-4 at Linden Hall School in Lititz, Pa. The Chargers are now 2-6 overall this season and 1-0 in conference play.
Lancaster Bible took two of the three doubles matches as
Evan Holbrook and
Cody Rupp earned an 8-5 victory at number two doubles and
Nathan Grimley and
Jared Steiner won, 8-0 at number three doubles.
Daniel Fabrick and
Tedd Holbrook lost their number one doubles match, 8-3 to wrap-up doubles play.
The Holbrook brothers each dropped tough singles matches as
Tedd Holbrook lost 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 at number two singles, while
Evan Holbrook lost his number three singles match, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. Grimley earned a victory at number four singles, 6-3, 6-3, while
Ming Bowser won his number five singles contest, 6-2, 6-0.
Jason Steiner also picked up a win as he won his number six singles match, 6-0, 6-2.Â
Lancaster Bible heads to Abington, Pa. on Wednesday to continue conference play with a match against Penn St. Abington at 3 p.m.
