The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team hosted its first match of the season on Wednesday, falling to Lycoming, 8-1 at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa. The loss drops the Chargers to 0-2 this season, while the Warriors improved to 4-5.
Lycoming picked up three points in doubles action as the Chargers struggled to get things going and lost 8-1 in number one doubles, 8-2 in number two doubles and 8-3 in number three doubles.
Singles action went better for the Chargers, specifically senior
Cody Rupp who earned his first victory of the season at number six singles. Rupp won convincingly over Josh Cram, 6-0, 6-1 and won the first match of the year for the Chargers.
Fellow senior
Jared Steiner played well at number two singles as he came up just short, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-7. Steiner's brother Jason played well in his match at number five singles as well as he also lost in a super tie-breaker, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 10-5.
Lancaster Bible returns to the court on Wednesday, April 5 when the Chargers head to Clarks Summit, Pa. to face Clarks Summit at 3:30 p.m.
