The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team saw its two-match winning streak come to an end on Wednesday as the Chargers lost to Penn St. Berks, 9-0 in Reading, Pa. The Chargers are now 3-5 overall and 2-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference Play, while the Nittany Lions, the top team in the NEAC, are 7-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

Penn St. Berks won the number one and two doubles matches by scores of 8-0 as the flight one team of Ming Bowser and Cody Rupp and the flight two team of Jared Steiner and Evan Holbrook were shutout. The flight three team of Keven Vallette and Jason Steiner played well, but lost to Nick Volk and Diego Olazagasti, 8-4.

The Chargers did not fare much better in singles action as Lancaster Bible won just eight games in six matches. Bowser lost in his flight one match, 6-1, 6-2, while Jared Steiner fell, 6-2, 6-1 at number two singles. Jason Steiner (flight three) and Holbrook (flight four), both suffered 6-0, 6-0 defeats, while Rupp fell, 6-0, 6-1 at number five singles to Mustafa Rahmy. Valette played in flight six and lost to Volk, 6-0, 6-1.

Lancaster Bible returns to the court on Thursday when the Chargers face NCAA Division II and Lancaster County neighbor Millersville at 3 p.m. The Chargers will then wrap-up their regular season against Penn St. Abington on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Prior to the match, which will be held at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa., the Chargers will honor each of their three seniors.
