The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team concluded its regular season on Sunday with a 9-0 loss to Penn St. Abington at Linden Hall School in Lititz, Pa. Lancaster Bible ends the regular season with an overall record of 3-7 and a 2-2 mark in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Nittany Lions improve to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Penn St. Abington won all three doubles matches as Lancaster Bible's top team of
Ming Bowser and
Cody Rupp lost, 8-0. The flight two team of
Evan Holbrook and
Jared Steiner dropped a close, 8-6 decision, while
Jason Steiner and
Keven Vallette lost, 8-4 in flight three doubles.
Bowser dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match at number one singles, while
Jared Steiner lost 6-3, 6-1 in flight two singles.
Jason Steiner played well in flight three singles, but lost, 6-3, 7-5. Holbrook fell, 6-1, 6-1 at number four singles, while Rupp lost, 6-2, 6-1 in flight five singles. Senior
Caleb Onasch dropped his flight six singles match, 6-3, 6-2.
Jared Steiner, Rupp and Onasch were honored prior to the match as part of the team's Senior Day festivities.
While the team did not qualify for the NEACÂ Team Tournament, several players will advance to the NEAC Individual Tournament, which will be played later this week in Clarks Summit, Pa. The Lancaster Bible players who qualified for the tournament will be notified of their opponent in the next day or two.
