The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team was back in action on Wednesday and the Chargers came up just short, falling to Clarks Summit, 5-4 in Clarks Summit, Pa. The loss drops the Chargers to 0-3 this season, while the Defenders improved to 4-3.
Lancaster Bible got one point during doubles action as the number three team of
Keven Vallette and
Jason Steiner won, 8-3. The number one doubles team of
Jared Steiner and
Cody Rupp came up just short as they lost, 8-5 and the number two team of
Ming Bowser and
Evan Holbrook lost, 8-4.
The teams split the singles matches as Lancaster Bible won flights four, five and six. Holbrook picked up the win at number four, defeating Ian Self, 6-3, 6-1, while
Jason Steiner earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number five singles.
Caleb Onasch won his first collegiate match with a 6-1, 3-6, 10-5 victory at number six singles.
Ming Bower ran into a buzzsaw at number one singles, falling to Jason Muller, 6-0, 6-0, while
Jared Steiner lost at number two singles, 6-3, 6-4. Rupp played well at number three singles, but lost to Yancy Butler, 7-6 (5), 6-2.
Lancaster Bible is scheduled to return to the court on Thursday as the Chargers face Penn St. Harrisburg in Middletown, Pa. at 3:30 p.m.
