The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team dropped its opening match of 2018 on Wednesday, falling to Mount Aloysius, 7-2 at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa.
The Chargers dropped all three doubles matches, though the number one doubles team of junior Luke Newberry and junior Ming Bowser lost a tight match, 9-8 (2). The number three doubles team of James Hutchinson and Evan Holbrook lost 8-5 as well for the Chargers.
In singles play, Newberry, playing at number one during his first match with the Chargers, swept his opponent, Nick Goldyn, 6-0, 6-0, as he earned Lancaster Bible's first point of the year. Hutchinson also picked up a victory for the Chargers, as he won his number six singles match, 7-5, 6-3.Â
Bowser played well in his 6-1, 7-5 loss at number two singles, while Holbrook fell 6-3, 6-1 at number four singles.
The Chargers are back in action on Wednesday, March 7, when Lancaster Bible hosts Clarks Summit at 3 p.m. at Hempfield Rec Center.
