The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team dropped its fourth straight match on Tuesday, falling to Delaware Valley, 4-3 in a match shortened by darkness. The Chargers are now 0-4 this season, while the Aggies improved to 3-7.Â
The Chargers' flight one doubles team of Luke Newberry and Derice Butler earned Lancaster Bible a point during doubles action, as the pair earned a 9-8 (9-7) victory over Zack Harcom and Tyler Smith. Delaware Valley won the other two doubles matches, as the number two team of Ming Bowser and Evan Holbrook fell 8-6, while the flight three team of Keven Vallette and James Hutchinson also lost, 8-6.
Newberry continued his impressive start in singles action, as he improved to 4-0 this season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Harcom. Bowser lost, 6-1, 6-2 in flight two singles to Smith, while Holbrook and Butler did not finish their matches due to darkness. Holbrook was trailing, 7-4 in a pro-set played to eight, while Butler was ahead, 7-4.
Vallette dropped his flight five singles match, 7-5, 6-4, and Hutchinson lost, 6-1, 3-6, 19-17 in his number six singles match.
Lancaster Bible returns to the court on Wednesday, April 4, when the Chargers open North Eastern Athletic Conference play at Bryn Athyn at 3:30 p.m.
