Wildcats Claw Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team dropped its final North Eastern Athletic Conference match of the regular season on Saturday, as the Chargers fell to Penn College, 6-3 in Williamsport, Pa. The Chargers are now 3-7 overall and 2-3 in NEAC play, while the Wildcats improved to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in conference action. 

The number one doubles team of Luke Newberry and Derice Butler got the Chargers started well with an 8-5 victory on Saturday, but the flight two team of Ming Bowser and Evan Holbrook lost, 8-5, as did the flight three team of Keven Vallette and Kyle Heck.

Newberry earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory in flight one singles for Lancaster Bible, and Bowser earned a three-set victory at number two singles with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory. Holbrook dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision in flight three singles, and Butler fell, 7-5, 6-4 at number four singles. Vallette lost his match at flight five singles by a score of 7-6 (7-2), 6-2, and James Hutchinson lost, 8-3 at flight six singles.

Lancaster Bible will wrap-up its regular season on Tuesday when the Chargers host Eastern at 2:45 p.m. at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa.
