The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team dropped its final North Eastern Athletic Conference match of the regular season on Saturday, as the Chargers fell to Penn College, 6-3 in Williamsport, Pa. The Chargers are now 3-7 overall and 2-3 in NEAC play, while the Wildcats improved to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in conference action.Â
The number one doubles team of Luke Newberry and Derice Butler got the Chargers started well with an 8-5 victory on Saturday, but the flight two team of Ming Bowser and Evan Holbrook lost, 8-5, as did the flight three team of Keven Vallette and Kyle Heck.
Newberry earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory in flight one singles for Lancaster Bible, and Bowser earned a three-set victory at number two singles with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory. Holbrook dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision in flight three singles, and Butler fell, 7-5, 6-4 at number four singles. Vallette lost his match at flight five singles by a score of 7-6 (7-2), 6-2, and James Hutchinson lost, 8-3 at flight six singles.
Lancaster Bible will wrap-up its regular season on Tuesday when the Chargers host Eastern at 2:45 p.m. at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa.
