Saturday Split

The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team split a tri-match on Saturday in Abington, Pa., as the Chargers lost their North Eastern Athletic Conference match to the host Nittany Lions, 3-0, before sweeping Delaware Valley in a non-conference match. The Chargers are now 10-10 overall this season, and 3-1 in NEAC play.

Quick Recap: The Chargers trailed by just two midway through the opening set, but Penn St. Abington won six of eight points midway through the set, and eventually won, 25-19…The Chargers had 10 kills to five in the second set over Penn St. Abington, but errors haunted the Chargers in the second frame, and Lancaster Bible committed 13 during the second set…The teams went back-and-forth the entire third set, but the Nittany Lions won three of the final four points of the set, and took the match, 3-0.
 
Statistically Speaking: Lancaster Bible had 36 kills and 24 errors on 128 attempts for a .094 hitting percentage…The Nittany Lions had 29 kills and 11 errors on 115 attempts for a .157 hitting percentage…The Chargers led in digs, 61-60, but the Nittany Lions led in aces, 7-5, and blocks, 8-3…Aleah Heyworth had eight kills and 10 digs, while Ashtyn Bouslog had eight kills and three digs…Suzanna Whiting had a team-best 23 digs, while Cassidy King had six kills and four digs.
 
News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 9-1 all-time against Penn St. Abington…The Chargers defeated the Nittany Lions, 3-0 last season in Lancaster.

Statistically Speaking: Lancaster Bible had 43 kills and 30 attempts on 138 attempts for a .094 hitting percentage, while Delaware Valley had 14 kills and 18 errors on 107 attempts for a -.037 hitting percentage…The Chargers also led in digs, 69-50, and aces, 8-5…Cassidy King had 13 kills and 14 digs to pace Lancaster Bible, while Courtney Goyak had 11 kills…Heyworth and Chloe King each had six kills.
 
News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 4-8 all-time against Delaware Valley…Lancaster Bible is 5-4 in true road matches this season, and 3-4 in neutral site competition…The 43 kills against Delaware Valley in three sets, were the most for the Chargers in a three-set match this season.

The Coach Says: "Our ship was springing leaks everywhere during the match against Penn St. Abington, and no matter what we tried, we couldn't plug all of the holes," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Micah Herron said. "Nothing seemed to work, and we just got beat. I thought we responded well in the second match and began executing at a higher level, and thought it was a really good bounce back win. We need to get some rest this week, and look forward to hosting NEAC matches next Saturday."
 
Up Next: Lancaster Bible has the week off, and returns to the court next Saturday, as the Chargers host a quad match at the Horst Athletic Center…The Chargers will host Gallaudet, SUNY Poly, and SUNY Cobleskill next weekend and Saturday's schedule is below:
