Box Score The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team opened its 2019 season on Saturday with a 9-0 loss to Stevenson. The Chargers are now 0-1, while the Mustangs improved to 3-0.
 
The Mustangs breezed past the Chargers in doubles action, as Lancaster Bible's top team of 
Luke Newberry and 
Keven Vallette fell, 8-1, while the second team of 
Yancy Butler and 
Ming Bowser lost, 8-0. The number three doubles team of 
Derice Butler and 
Chase Evans lost, 8-1 to Richie Abruscasto and Lukas Sanidas.
 
In singles action, Newberry lost, 6-3, 6-0 at number one singles, while 
Yancy Butler fell, 6-0, 6-1 at number two. Bowser dropped his match at number three singles, 6-0, 6-2 to Drew Ryan, while Vallette suffered a 6-0, 6-4 defeat at number four singles.
 
Derice Butler played well in his match at number five singles, but lost, 6-2, 6-3 to Sanidas. Evans dropped his match at number six, 6-0, 6-1 to Larry Johnson III.
 
Lancaster Bible is back in action on Saturday, March 16, as the Chargers host Delaware Valley at 11 a.m. at the Hempfield Rec Center.
