Cedarville, Ohio- The Lancaster Bible College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams closed out the NCCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 12. The Chargers set eight new school records in the two-day championship with the men's team finishing 11
th and the women's team placing 13
th.
In today's action,
Nathan Vigil set a school record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at a height of 3.95 meters. Vigil finished 7
th in the event, earning two team points.
On the track,
Eric Zimmerman took 11
th place in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 23.31. The men's 4x400 meter relay team made up of Vigil,
Trey Baughman,
Adam Horning and
Nick Songster finished eighth, setting a school record with a time of 3:42.13. The women's 4x400 meter relay team also set a school record, with the team of
Erin Wilsey,
Hannah Lieb,
Elizabeth Lieb and
Kara Huber finishing the race in seventh place with a time of 4:35.74.
Logan Burkholder got off to a strong start in the men's heptathlon; however, he was forced to withdraw from the event due to injury.
After the event had come to its conclusion,
Trey Baughman and
Leah Bergey were awarded their NCCAA All-American medals for their efforts in the high jump and pentathlon during yesterdays competition.
"This meet was a great opportunity for our athletes to see high level competition," said head coach
Melissa Baughman. "I am so proud of the way they rose to the occasion., breaking 8 school records as well as multiple PRs. It is a blessing to see how well they support and encourage one another."
