The LBC Track & Field Teams took part in the Messiah Invite on Saturday, April 9, showcasing their skills against NCAA Division III teams from the region. The men's team finished 16
th out of 23 teams while the women's team finished 11
th of 22 teams.

In the Field
The Chargers had another excellent showing in the high jump.
Trey Baughman finished second in the event, clearing the bar at a height of 1.92 meters. On the women's side,
Leah Bergey cleared 1.51 meters earning her sixth place in the event.
Kara Huber continued her strong start to the outdoor season taking 6
th in the pole vault flying over the bar at height of 2.75 meters. In the men's pole vault,
Nathan Vigil cleared the bar at height of 3.75 meters finishing 6
th.
Kyle Gregory scored team points in the Javelin finishing 8
th place with a toss of 46.13 meters.
Emma Rohn became the first athlete to take part in the women's heptathlon which began on Thursday, and she finished the event with a score of 2277. During the event, Rohn set a school record in the shot put, with a toss of 6.77 meters. She also set a school record in the Javelin, with a throw of 16.50 meters.
On the Track
Leah Bergey continued to shine staring in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Bergey took the top spot in the qualifying heats, posting a time of 15.52. She then won the event by over half a second, setting a school record with a time 15.12. Bergey's time is the 35
th fastest in NCAA Division III and third fastest in the NCCAA so far this spring. Bergey also had a strong showing in the 400 Meter Hurdles finishing 4
th overall in a time of 1:09.96. This time qualified her for the NCCAA Outdoor Championships later this spring.
Trey Baughman also qualified for the NCCAA Outdoor Championships, taking sixth at the meet with a time of 59.41.
Sydney Heller set a school record in the 200 meters, finishing the event in a time of 28.65.
Emma Fertig and
Josiah McClymont became the first two athletes to take part in the 3000-meter Steeplechase. Fertig finished 8
th overall earning a team point with a time of 13:15.47. With her time, Fertig qualified for the NCCAA Outdoor Championships. McClymont also had a solid showing, completing the event in a time of 10:52.54.
Relays
The men's 4x100 meter relay team made of
Nick Songster,
Jalen Glasgow,
Trey Baughman and
Eric Zimmerman finished 8
th with a time of 45.80. The men's 4x800 meter relay team made up of
Chase Reed,
Daniel Lefko,
Josiah McClymont and
Adam Horning set a school record with a time of 9:02.54. The women's 4X800 also set a school record with the team of
Bailey Donaldson,
Dana Keller,
Elizabeth Lieb and
Emma Fertig recording a time of 11:28.95 which was good enough for sixth at the event.

Coaching Points
"We had some great finishes today," said head coach
Melissa Baughman. "I was really proud of our effort as a team. Â It was also great to see several events contested for the first time in our short history including women's heptathlon, steeplechase, and 4x800 relays."
