Track & Field Takes Part In Millersville Metrics Meet

The LBC Track and Field Teams competed at Millersville University this weekend with over 25 Division II and III schools.  The Chargers had 7 top-ten finishes, 5 NCCAA qualifiers, and set 12 new school records.

On the Field
Several of the top ten finishes came in field events as Trey Baughman placed 2nd and Leah Bergey placed 5th in high jump. Nathan Vigil took 5th place in pole vault, launching over the bar at a height of 3.90 meters to claim a new season best. Kara Huber also set a new school record in pole vault with a mark of 2.85 meters. Both vaulters punched their tickets to the NCCAA Outdoor Championships. Jalen Glasgow took 8th overall in long jump, with a jump of 6.20 meters. In the javelin, Logan Klutinoty broke the LBC school record with a throw of 44.69 meters, only for Kyle Gregory to take it back minutes later, making a throw of 50.66 meters to set a new record.

On the Track
Out on the track, Leah Bergey competed in the 100 meter hurdles, rocketing to third place overall in the event with a prelim time of 15.23 seconds and final time of 15.43 seconds. Eric Zimmerman competed in the 200 meters, claiming a top 5 finish and a season best time of 22.65 seconds while simultaneously qualifying for the NCCAA championships! Sydney Heller had solid performances in the 100 and 200 meter races, improving upon her record in the 100 meters and breaking the 200 meter record.

Our distance runners also made great efforts, resulting in several personal bests across the roster. Kicking off the meet, Alex McWilliams raced the 10,000-meter run on the track, crossing the finish line with an additional school record of 39:06.78. The 5,000 meter race featured Josiah McClymont and Daniel Lefko, each clocking in times of 17:22.16 and 17:35.75 respectively. Josiah also claimed the 5,000-meter school record in the process. Emma Fertig and Adam Horning had great days, setting school records in both the 800 and 1500 meter races.

Relays
A number of great performances came from our relay teams this weekend. The women's 4x100 meter relay team made up of Sydney Heller, Elizabeth Lieb, Emma Rohn, and Leah Bergey placed 7th in the meet setting a new school record. The 4x400 meter relays featuring Nathan Vigil, Josiah McClymont, Adam Horning, and Nick Songster on the men's side and Lizzy Lieb, Emma Fertig, Dana Keller, and Kara Huber on the women's side also set new school records
