How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College baseball team dropped game one of its three game series with Penn St. Abington, falling by a score of 16-3 on Friday, April 8.
Penn State Abington (16-8 Overall, 6-4 United East) jumped out to an early lead, scoring 12 runs in the first three innings to seize the early momentum. The Chargers (13-12 Overall, 8-2 United East) got on the board in the sixth inning. With two outs in the inning,
Ethan Varricchione smashed a home run over the left center field fence. Two innings later,
Brian Coburn crushed a solo home run to left center, bringing LBC back with 10 runs, making the score 12-2. The Lions answered back, tacking on four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. LBC made on final push in the ninth inning.
Blake Greenly singled into left field and stole second. After
Jaden Pinkney worked a walk, Coburn smack a single, allowing Greenly to score from second base. LBC could not get any closer, falling 16-3.
