How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team fell in the United East Semifinals to #3 seed Medaille College by a score of 19-7 on Friday, May 6.
The Chargers won the opening two faceoffs but could not capitalize on the opportunity, allowing the Mavericks to score the game's first two goals.
Kendal Ream halted the run, scoring on LBC's next possession to make the score 2-1. The Chargers then leveled the game at two when
Abby Donaldson stormed to the goal, scoring in transition. Medaille College answered, scoring four straight goals to build a 6-2 advantage midway through the opening quarter. The Chargers could not slow the Mavericks' momentum, allowing two more goals and trailing 8-2 heading into the second quarter.
Medaille continued building on their advantage, firing three straight goals to start the second quarter. Ream broke the run, scoring on a free position shot opportunity with 4:26 remaining in the half. The Mavericks tacked on one more goal before the half, leading 12-3 at the break.
LBC tried to battle back into the game early in the third quarter. Ream opened the half by winning the draw and racing down the field for a goal. After Ream won the ensuing draw,
Katelynn Perrotta found
Lindsey Weaver for a goal, making the score 12-5. After a Mavericks goal, Ream scored again to keep the Chargers within seven goals. Medaille halted the Chargers' comeback, scoring three straight goals to retake a 10-goal lead. Ream scored one more goal, striking just before the end of the quarter on a free position shot. The Mavericks controlled the final quarter, scoring three more goals and powering to a 19-7 victory.
