Chargers Fight Hard Versus the Royals

Box Score Following a tough loss in overtime against Neumann University, the Lancaster Bible Field Hockey team traveled to Harrisonburg, Va. to face off against the Eastern Mennonite Royals. The Chargers would fall 0-3 in regulation, moving their record to 0-2 on the season and the Royals to 1-0. 
 
How It Happened: The Royals would come out firing, sending a total of eight shots towards the goal resulting in two goals during the first period. Goalkeeper Amanda Hoover would limit the damage, recording an astounding five of her nine saves in the first period alone.
 
The Chargers would regroup in the second period, keeping the Royals shots at a minimum (two) and sending three shots of their own. The Royals would then send 11 and three shots in the third and fourth quarter, finding the net once and pushing their lead and what would be the final score to 3-0 for Eastern Mennonite.
 
From the Coach: "The game was a big improvement from last year. Our defense held tough and we made them work for their opportunities. It speaks volumes for the grit of this team that the fourth quarter was our best quarter." – Head Coach Becky Elliott
 
By the Numbers: The Royals held the advantage in the shot total for today's contest with a 24-8 lead… Lancaster Bible tallied nine saves while Eastern Mennonite had six saves… Eastern Mennonite led in penalty corners 8-4.
 
Information to Know: This was the third contest between the Eastern Mennonite Royals and Lancaster Bible Chargers.
 
Up Next: The Chargers will continue their road trip as they head to Frederick, Md. to battle the Hood College Blazers on Thursday, Sept. 8th at 7 p.m.
