The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team took on Penn St. Harrisburg in their first United East Volt Division game of 2023, winning in straight sets. The Chargers improve to 9-6 on the year and 1-0 in conference play, while the Lions drop to 7-9 overall and 0-1 in the United East.
How it Happened: The teams traded points early before senior
Faith Hammond landed a service ace and fellow senior
Chloe King knocked three kills to open up an 11-7 lead. It was all Chargers from there as they tallied four aces in the first set and Hammond landed the final kill to give LBC a 25-18 set one win.
The second set was more of the same from Lancaster Bible as the Chargers went on a massive 14-point run, spearheaded by three aces from
Lea Sareyka and some stellar defense from junior libero
Leah Helman. The Lions put a four-point run together towards the end of the set, but King closed it out 25-14 to help LBC go up 2-0.
The Lions started with three points to lead in the third set, but kills from Hammond, Sareyka and Helman pushed the Chargers back up, not surrendering the lead again. The Lions and Chargers went back and forth in the middle of the set, trading short rallies and both teams spiking it hard. Lancaster Bible scored the last five points of the set, winning 25-15 and closing out their United East opener with a three-set victory.
