The Lancaster Bible's Women's Volleyball squad faced off against Hood and Lebanon Valley in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Chargers defeated the Blazers 3-1 and lost to the Flying Dutchmen 1-3. After splitting, Lancaster Bible's record moves to 7-5 overall. Hood's record drops to 4-9 overall, and Lebanon Valley goes to 7-4 overall.
vs. Hood – Win, 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-24, 25-18)
How It Happened: The Chargers came out roaring to a quick 7-2 lead capped off by a
Jessica Fletcher kill.
Leah Helman and
Faith Hammond kept things rolling, getting two straight service aces each to extend Lancaster Bible's lead to 14-7. The Blazers brought it back to within one late in the first set, but
Chloe King closed out the first set with a kill, bringing the Chargers a tight 25-23 win. In the second set, the teams started tied at five, but a quick five points unanswered by Hood brought them an early lead. King had two kills in a row to close the gap to 9-13, but the Blazers kept rolling, going up 19-10 on Lancaster Bible. However, a Hammond kill sparked a 6-1 run for the Chargers bringing it back to 17-22. Unfortunately, Hood closed out the second set, winning 25-18.
Lancaster Bible came out to a 10-6 lead in the third set after two kills and an ace from
Chloe King. Hammond added a kill and two aces of her own as the Chargers pulled away 15-8. The Chargers continued to roll and came out of the third set with a convincing 25-14 victory. Early in the fourth set, the Chargers trailed by just two, but the Blazers put their foot on the pedal and led 13-6 after a dominant run. Hammond got a kill that sparked a 5-1 run by the Chargers, bringing it back to a three-point game. Lancaster Bible put together seven points unanswered, getting an 18-16 lead at a crucial point in the match.
Chloe King put up four kills in the final five points for the Chargers, and the team won the fourth and final set 25-18.

Chloe King surpassed 100 kills in her senior campaign, currently at 101. Freshman
Madeline Reed doubled her career-high in assists, putting up 36 against Hood.
Leah Helman also surpassed 100 career aces and 900 career digs.
vs. Lebanon Valley – Loss, 1-3 (25-22, 24-26, 20-25, 19-25)
How It Happened: The teams started in a tightly contested first set tied up at eight early on. After being tied again at 12, Lebanon Valley scored four straight going up 16-12. A block by
Faith Hammond and
Jessica Hendricks started a comeback by the Chargers as the team was able to take the lead back at 20-19. Two late
Chloe King kills finished off the first set for Lancaster Bible coming away with a 25-22 win. The Chargers started down 6-0 in the second set, but Hammond got two kills to help the team cut the deficit in half. Lancaster Bible climbed back to just a one-point deficit following a pair of aces from King. Both teams rallied back and forth, and
Madeline Reed had a crucial kill to tie it up at 22. Unfortunately, the Flying Dutchmen closed it out, winning the third set 26-24.
The Chargers started down 4-0 immediately in the third set, but the team quickly answered with four of their own. The Flying Dutchmen, however, continued to pull away to eventually reach an 18-12 lead over Lancaster Bible.
Faith Hammond had two kills and an ace in an effort that brought the Chargers back to a game tied at 20. Lebanon Valley closed the third set on a 5-0 run to win 25-20. The teams started out in a close battle in the fourth set tied 6-6, but Lebanon Valley jumped out to a 5-0 run shortly after. The Chargers fought back behind kills from King and
Jessica Hendricks, but the Flying Dutchmen continued to pull away to an 18-8 lead. However, the Chargers would not go down without a fight as they answered with a 6-1 run behind two aces from Hammond. Despite the late push, Lebanon Valley won the fourth and final set 25-19.
