The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team squared off against the Greyhounds of Moravian on Friday night in front of an energized homecoming crowd, and the Chargers won 3-1. Following the loss, the Chargers move to 8-6 overall while the Greyhounds fall to 5-8.
Â
How It Happened: It wouldn't be long before the Chargers found themselves down on their home turf. Behind 15-10, things looked pretty grim for the Chargers before a last minute rally thanks to kills from
Faith Hammond,
Riley Dodrer, and
Lea Sareyka helped the Chargers steal the first set.
Â
The second set was much the same as the Greyhounds raced to an 18-10 lead and, learning from the first set, they kept the Chargers away, winning the second set 25-19.
Â
The Chargers found themselves tied at 10-10 in the third set, before a string of ten unanswered Chargers points thanks to five kills from
Chloe King gave them a convincing 20-10 lead. Sareyka again ended the set with a kill of her own, giving the Chargers a 25-15 set win and a 2-1 lead in the match.
Â
Hot off the press, the Chargers continued to fire on all cylinders headed into the fourth, jumping to an early 6-1 lead. The Greyhounds managed to work their way back, but every time they got close King made sure to not let it be any closer, grabbing three kills in a row to make it 14-6. Dodrer finished off the set and the game to give the Chargers a 25-16 win in the final set of the night.
Â
By the Numbers: The Chargers grabbed 51 kills, 5 aces, and 76 digs while the Greyhounds had 38 kills, 3 aces, and 67 digs… King had a monster 17 kills and 15 digs… Sareyka and Fenstermacher followed with 11 and nine respectively…
Madeline Reed dished out a career-high 39 assists…
