Lancaster Bible College's women's volleyball team snatched a win against Alvernia University three sets to one After the win, the Chargers now move to 2-2 on the season, yet to play a conference opponent. The Golden Wolves are 1-2 and have also not played a conference match this season.

How It Happened:Â The first set was one of many runs, as both teams started off back and forth, but a Chargers' 4-0 run to bring the team a 7-4 lead was spiked by a
Jessica Fletcher kill and ace. After pulling the game back to a manageable 11-9, Alvernia answered with a 4-0 run of their own, and Lancaster Bible jumped right back with four unanswered making the score 15-13 Chargers. Both sides battled back and forth to close the game out, but after a late 4-0 run from the Wolves, Alvernia came out with the first set 26-24.

 After dropping a tight first set, the Chargers came roaring back in the second, taking a 12-4 lead thanks to two kills each from
Chloe King and
Jessica Fletcher. The Golden Wolves, however, would not go down without a fight, and they brought it back to as close as 10-15. Lancaster Bible closed out the second set with a 25-16 victory ended by a
Faith Hammond kill.

The Chargers struggled to gain their footing early in the third set as the Golden Wolves started off with a 7-1 run, but Lancaster Bible clawed their way back to tie at 11 each behind three kills from Fletcher and two aces from
Leah Helman. Both squads kept on fighting and brought it to a 23-23 tie, but the Chargers were able to capitalize and walk out of the third set with a 25-23 nail-biting win.

As the Chargers looked to close out the match in the fourth set, the team scored the first five unanswered, but the Golden Wolves quickly recovered with four more of their own.
Chloe King had two kills in the Chargers' 7-1 run that gave them a lead of 12-5. Alvernia tried to work their way back, but they continued to trail late in the set 18-14. The Chargers ended the set on a 7-1 run capped off by
Chloe King's eleventh kill in the match.Â

By the Numbers:Â Lancaster Bible had four players reach the eight-kill mark including
Jessica Fletcher and
Sheyenne King getting eight,
Morgan Fenstermacher with nine, and
Chloe King leading the bunch with 11.
Leah Helman,
Chloe King, and
Tessa Kwiatkowski each had 14 digs for the Chargers.
Madeline Reed also tacked on 18 assists for Lancaster Bible. Alvernia was led by Julianna McGlone who had 10 kills, along with Abigail McGlinchey who had five assists and 28 digs.

Information to Know:Â In the two squads' eighth meeting, Lancaster Bible has now balanced the scales with a 4-4 record against Alvernia all-time. Senior
Chloe King moves up to 523 kills after an impressive performance against Alvernia. In just four matches in her collegiate career,
Jessica Fletcher is second on the team in kills with 38.
Leah Helman now has 91 career service aces and is inching her way to 100. Freshman
Tessa Kwiatkowski now has three consecutive games with a double-double in assists in digs.
