The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team fell to the Cedar Crest Falcons 2-1 on Saturday morning after the Falcons scored two goals in the final minutes. The Chargers celebrated four seniors in
Haley Stahl,
Mattie Krieg,
Molly Gray, and
Alexis Gilbert. The Chargers move to 2-13 overall and 0-4 in the United East Conference while the Falcons improve to 3-12 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
How It Happened: The Chargers found themselves in a stalemate after the first half as both teams traded possession. Both teams were able to find scoring opportunities but none of them turned up successful.
It wasn't until the end of the third period that freshman
Gabby Dunlap scored her first goal of the game and of her career on an assist from senior
Alexis Gilbert. The Chargers were able to keep the Falcons at bay but it was the 56
th minute that they were able to tie the game 1-1. With the pressure on, the Falcons found another goal just over two minutes later to take the lead and eventually win the game in the final minutes.
By the Numbers: The Falcons outshot the Chargers 14-7… the Falcons had six penalty corners and the Chargers had two penalty corners… the Chargers tallied three saves for the game.
