The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team earned a spot in the 2024 United East Conference Semifinals after a 3-1 win over Penn St. Abington on Saturday. The Chargers will host the three-seed St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawks on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m.
The Chargers sit 24-6 overall and finished conference play at 9-1 behind the one-seed Gallaudet. A young squad, the Chargers are led by sophomore
Lea Sareyka who has totaled 305 kills this season. Not far behind is freshman
Madison Reap with 252 kills and sophomore
Eden Belford with 251 kills. Senior libero
Leah Helman anchors the defensive side with 582 total digs this season.
These two teams have yet to meet up due to the rotating schedule in the conference, however in last season's matchup on October 21, 2023, the Chargers beat the Seahawks 3-2 on the road. In that matchup, the Chargers lost their first set only to storm back and win the next two by a combined 3.5 points. They sealed the deal with a close 17-15 win in the fifth and final set. When looking at common opponents this season, the Chargers are 4-1 while the Seahawks are 3-2 with the only difference coming in a win over Hood on September 17 for the Chargers.
The winner will advance to the 2024 United East Championship on Saturday, November 16 to play the winner of one-seed Gallaudet versus four-seed Penn St. Harrisburg.
