The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team is headed to the 2024 United East Conference Championship after a 3-0 win over three-seed St. Mary's (Md.) this past Tuesday. The Chargers head to Washington D.C. on Saturday, November 16 for a matchup with the one-seed Gallaudet Bison at 5:00 p.m.
The Chargers improve to 25-6 overall and finished 9-1 in conference play behind the Bison. A young squad, the Chargers are led by sophomore
Lea Sareyka averaging 2.81 kills per set and freshman
Madison Reap with 2.32 kills per set. Sophomore
Eden Belford also has contributed in major way tallying 33 blocks and 256 total kills. On the defensive side, senior
Leah Helman has held down the backline totaling 600 total digs to average 5.31 digs per set.
These two squads have met once this season on October 23 as the Bison swept the Chargers 3-0 at their place. The Chargers were able to keep it close in the first and third set, 25-19 and 25-21, but were unable to steal a set. They were led by
Jessica Fletcher with seven kills and Sareyka with six kills. Helman tallied 17 digs in the loss. Brielle Worley of Gallaudet finished with a game-high 17 kills for the Bison.
The winner will receive an automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III National Tournament. The NCAA Selection Show will air Monday, November 18 at 1:00 p.m.
