The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team earned their first win of the season on Saturday evening over Pitt-Greensburg 79-77. The Chargers improve to 1-2 overall while the Bobcats go to 2-1 overall.
How It Happened: Despite a 10-2 deficit just four minutes into the game for the Chargers, a three-pointer from
Grant Sareyka and steal and layup from
Connor Storr gave the Chargers their first lead of the game 16-15. The Chargers' bench made a significant push as
Tyshaun Pulley,
Isaac Smalls, and
Doug Adiok all scored to push the Chargers' lead to 24-15. Sareyka hit another jumper at the 50-second mark to extend the Chargers' lead to 43-29 at the half.
Camden Hurst opened the half with a quick five points to bring the lead to 15-points, 48-33. And the lead grew to as much as 18-points as
Reaves Hooks hit a three-pointer at 16:30. But the Bobcats went to work, slowly chipping away at the Chargers' lead only to take their first lead since the start of the game 59-58 with 8:21 left to play. Pulley hit some important shots down the stretch, including a layup to reclaim the lead and another three-pointer to tie the game at 66-66. Both teams continued to trade points down the stretch, but it was the Chargers who came out victorious in the end behind two big three-point plays from Sareyka and Hurst. A free throw from
Daniel King and a missed heave at the end sealed the deal 79-77.
