The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team traveled to Washington D.C. on Saturday evening for the 2024 United East Conference Championship against the Gallaudet Bison. The Bison took home the championship after defeating the Chargers in three sets: 25-16; 25-12; 26-24. The Chargers end their season 25-7 overall while the Bison improve to 30-4 overall.
How It Happened: The Bison rattled off five straight points to start the night. Despite the early deficit the Chargers worked their way back behind a 6-1 run that tied the at 12-12 after an ace from
Madison Reap. Â Following the Chargers' run, the Bison put together a run of their own, scoring eight straight points to bring their lead to 21-13. The Bison ended up winning the first set 25-16.
In the second set the Bison made quick work, jumping out to an 8-3 lead to start. While the Chargers looked to turn the momentum, the Bison continued to keep the Chargers at a distance, furthering their lead to 19-8. The Bison won the second set 25-12.
Facing elimination, the Chargers gave it all they got taking an 8-4 lead behind two aces from
Sheyenne King. Keeping their lead, it was a kill from
Jessica Fletcher and ace from
Lea Sareyka that pushed the Chargers' lead to 12-7, their biggest of the night. The Bison continued to keep it close, but it was the Chargers who kept their lead through the third set. That was until six straight points reclaimed the lead for the Bison 24-22. The Chargers tied it again at 24-24 behind a block from Fletcher and King, but the Bison proved too much as they scored two more points to win 26-24.
