The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team earned their first win on the road this season beating Haverford on Saturday afternoon, 100-83. The Chargers tallied a season high 30 assists and forced 29 turnovers helping three players reach double-figures on the game. The Chargers improve to 2-3 overall while the Fords drop to 3-2 overall.
How It Happened: It was a fast paced game form the start as the Fords took a 9-4 lead just five minutes into the game. The Fords kept ahead with the Chargers right at their heels, that was until a steal from
Camden Hurst and a layup from
Maureon Tisdale-Couch tied it at 28-28 with five minutes left in the game. The Fords went ahead again by four points but a steal from
Nile Austin and layup from
Grant Sareyka tied it again at 34-34. With just over a minute left, back to back three pointers from Austin and Sareyka followed by free throws from
Daniel King gave the Chargers their largest lead of the game going into halftime 44-37.
It was all Chargers in the second half as their lead grew to as much as 16 points in just the first two minutes of play. Hurst found himself a scoring spurt as he scored 13 of the first 17 points for the Chargers in the second half capped off by a two hand flush on a fast break. The Fords kept hanging around but the Chargers fastbreak and defensive pressure kept a 15 point cushion as they would go on to win 100-83.
By the Numbers: The Chargers shot a season best 50-percent from the field, 47-percent from three, and 66-percent from the free throw line… the Fords shot 43-percent from the field and 67-percent from the free throw line… the Chargers tallied 30 assists, 16 steals, 62 points in the paint, and 43 fast break points… Sareyka had a game high 24 points and four rebounds… Hurst had 23 points and three assists…
Connor Storr chipped in 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists… Gaven Marr scored a team high 18 points for the Fords. Â
