The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team opened United East Conference play on Tuesday night with a trip to the Penn St. Abington Lions. The Chargers came away with an 82-64 victory to begin a two game win-streak behind a season high 30 points from
Grant Sareyka. The Chargers improve to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the United East while the Lions fall to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in conference.
How It Happened: Coming off a great team win at Haverford on Saturday, the Chargers jumped out to an early 13-2 lead as several steals led to transition buckets. In first four minute the Chargers were able to grab five steals including three from fifth year
Jordan Praylow. The lead grew to as much as 22-points in the first half as
Tyshaun Pulley sunk a free throw. Sareyka found help from several teammates as Pulley,
Camden Hurst,
Nile Austin,
Connor Storr, and
Luke Rumbaugh all found first half buckets. The Chargers entered halftime with a 45-25 lead.
Despite early turnovers in the second half, the Chargers continued to keep pace as Hurst opened the half with a three of his own. The Chargers continued to speed up the pace, but foul trouble put the Lions at the line several times to extend the game. It was their defensive pressure and transition that proved pivotal for the Chargers down the stretch as they went on to secure the victory, 82-64.
By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 54-percent from the field, 31-percent from the three, and 60-percent from the line… the Lions shot 37-percent from the field, 33-percent from three, and 64-percent from the line… the Chargers had 52 points in the paint and 31 fast break points… Sareyka finished 12 of 16 from the field to score a game high 30 points and adding four assists and four steals…
Camden Hurst finished with 12 points… Jahad Marable had 15 points for the Lions.
