Hurst Drops 32 as Chargers Take Down Royals

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team traveled to Harrisonburg, Va. on Friday evening, taking on Eastern Mennonite and coming away with an 81-66 road victory. The Chargers improve to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the United East, while the Royals fall to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the ODAC.

How it Happened:
The Royals got out to an early lead with the first seven points of the game after several misses from LBC, but sophomore Camden Hurst got the Chargers on the board with a pull-up jumper. Graduate student Jordan Praylow cut the lead to just two with an and-one layup, completing the three-point play. Back-to-back threes from junior Nile Austin and Hurst cut it to one, then Hurst hit another three to give the Chargers their first lead at 19-17 with under nine minutes to play in half one. Hurst continued his tear with 14 consecutive LBC points to help drive the lead to eight, then freshman Isaac Smalls finished a dunk to extend it to 33-22 Chargers. Lancaster Bible led by as many as 19 in the half, taking a 47-28 lead into halftime behind 20 first-half points from Hurst.

The Chargers kept the lead around 19 as Austin and Smalls connected on shots, then junior Reaves Hooks knocked down a 3-pointer to extend it to 21 at 62-41 at the 12-minute mark. Hurst completed a three-point play to give LBC their largest lead of the game at 68-41, but the Royals went on a massive 15-0 run over the next five minutes to cut the deficit in half. Hurst halted the slide with five straight points, including a corner three to notch a 30-point performance for the Chargers. The Chargers held on to win 81-66 for a non-conference win over the Royals.

By the Numbers:
- The Chargers shot almost 50% from the field at 27-55 (49.1%) and went 10-24 (41.7%) from beyond the arc, while the Royals shot just 23-59 (39%) from the field and 7-26 (26.9%) on 3-pointers
