The Lancaster Bible Men's Basketball team traveled to Vestal, NY on Sunday afternoon for an NCAA Division I exhibition game with the Binghamton Bearcats. The Chargers battled tough, but ultimately fell 85-60. The Chargers remain 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the United East while the Bearcats improved to 6-6 overall.
How It Happened: The Chargers traded shot for shot with the Bearcats to open the game as
Camden Hurst scored a quick four points and
Grant Sareyka tied the game at 7-7 with a three-pointer. Back to back three pointers from
Reaves Hooks brought the Chargers within one point, 14-13, as the Bearcats looked to extend their lead. The Chargers were able to force several turnovers, but the Bearcats remained hot behind the line. Two made free throws from Hooks with 3:11 to play in the half brought the deficit to seven, but the Bearcats pushed their lead back to double digits just before the half.
The Bearcats came out of halftime pushing their lead to 18 points.
Luke Rumbaugh and
Doug Adiok had the first buckets of the half for the Chargers as they looked to close the gap. While the Chargers managed to create turnovers and find the rim, the Bearcats were too much extending their lead to as much as 30 points in the half. An
Isaac Smalls fastbreak dunk, back to back layups from
Carlos Reynoso, and two free throws from
Marco Cabezas shrunk the deficit to 25 to finish the game.
By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 34-percent from the floor, 23-percent from the three, and 62-percent from the free throw line… the Bearcats shot 63-percent from the field, 50-percent from three, and 52-percent from the charity stripe… the Chargers forced 18 turnovers and had eight steals…
Reaves Hooks had a career high 15 points including three triples…
Jordan Praylow added 10 points and five rebounds… Chris Walker had 22 points for the Bearcats.
