The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team has had a tough stretch of matchups over the past few weeks including seven top-20 teams out of their nine total losses. The Chargers looked to rebound on Wednesday, night hosting the Wilkes Colonels at the Horst Athletic Center, winning in 3-0 fashion. The Chargers improve to 4-9 on the season, breaking an eight-game losing streak, while the Colonels drop to 10-3 overall.
How It Happened: The Colonels began the night with three straight points, giving them an early 3-0 lead on the home team. Two early kills from graduate student
Hunter Davis got the Chargers on track offensively to bring the deficit to 5-3. Gaining momentum, a string of four kills from freshman
Jordan Yoder tied the game for the first time at 7-7. Both squads remained neck-and-neck until a 5-0 run from the Chargers brought their lead to 18-11. The Chargers went on to win the first set 25-22.
Set number two started with both teams being tied at each point for the first six points. It wasn't until back-to-back kills from
Michael Myers extended the Chargers' lead to 13-10. The Chargers managed to keep the lead until the Colonels fought back to tie the game at 18-18, but hungry for a win the Chargers rattled off three more consecutive points ending, on a kill from
Dawson Forney to help them secure a 25-21 second set victory.
With a win on the horizon, the Chargers started the third set on a 6-0 run on kills from Myers, Davis, and Forney. Continuing their offensive prowess for the night, the Chargers racked up 12 kills in the third set on a .411-hitting percentage to win 25-16.
By the Numbers: The Chargers tallied 42 kills on 36 assists with six aces and 27 total digs… the Colonels tallied 31 kills to go with three blocks and 18 digs… Yoder had a game-high 14 kills and two aces with Forney close behind with 11 kills… Davis registered eight kills and two aces…
Christian Herr dished out 35 assists and
Tyler Martin tallied a game-high nine digs… Jackson Shafer had a team-high 12 kills for the Colonels.
