The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team has opened United East Conference play on a tear starting the conference schedule 3-0. The Chargers beat Wilson 3-0 on Wednesday night to mark their fourth straight win and fourth straight sweep. The Chargers are now 9-13 overall and 3-0 in conference while Wilson falls to 6-12 overall and 1-1 in conference.
How It Happened: The Phoenix led 5-3 early in the first set, but after a timeout from Coach
Jade Brubaker the Chargers rattled off five straight points to take a 8-5 lead. The two squads continued to trade points until another string of Chargers' attacks pushed the lead to 19-12. The Chargers won the first set 25-18.
Opening the second set with a 7-1 lead behind several kills and back-to-back blocks, the Chargers stayed ahead to win 25-15 in set number two.
Nicholas Marion and
Jake Rotelle combined for nine points in the set while
DJ Omogrosso added five points of his own.
The third and final set happened just the same with an early 6-0 lead followed by an offensive showcase from several different Chargers. Winning 25-12, the Chargers capped off their fourth win with a 3-0 sweep.
By the Numbers: The Chargers finished with 37 kills, seven blocks, and 34 digs… the Phoenix had 19 kills, four aces, and two blocks… Rotelle led all players with 10 kills and Marion finished with eight kills and three blocks…
DJ Omogrosso stuffed the stat sheet with six kills, three aces, and three blocks…
Christian Herr dished out a game-high 27 assists and
Ben Latham had a game-high 10 digs… Ryan Koontz led the Phoenix with six kills.
