The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team traveled to Stevenson, Md. to take on both Elizabethtown and host Stevenson on Saturday afternoon, winning 3-1 over E-Town and dropping a hard-fought match to Stevenson 3-2. The Chargers move to 12-3 overall while the Blue Jays fall to 8-6 overall and the Mustangs improve to 7-4 overall.

How it Happened:
The first set was a back-and-forth battle as the Chargers and Blue Jays as sophomore
Lea Sareyka and freshman
Madison Reap racked up kills. The Chargers gained a three-point lead late in the set, then a kill from sophomore
Eden Belford and a service ace from senior
Leah Helman helped LBC win the set 25-20. It was Elizabethtown who took an early lead in the second set as they scored five in a row with two aces to go up 14-4. The Blue Jays continued to dominate the set, winning 25-14 and tying the match at 1-1.
With the third set tied up at 7-7, the Chargers rattled off six straight points with kills from Reap and sophomore
Jessica Fletcher and a block from Reap and junior
Riley Dodrer fueled the run. Belford and Dodrer finished off the set with kills to win it 25-20 and put LBC up 2-1 in the match.
Set four was a close battle as aces from Reap and Helman kept pace with the Blue Jays. The two teams alternated points for 16 rallies in a row before Elizabethtown opened up a two-point lead with three in a row. Down 22-20 late, the Chargers fought back with kills from Sareyka and Reap to finish off the set 25-23 and win game one.

- The Chargers led in kills 57-53 and aces 9-8, while the Blue Jays had more digs 69-63 and outblocked LBC 4-3

How it Happened:
Stevenson got off to a thundering start, scoring nine straight points to open up a big lead. The Chargers, however, put together two three-point runs and then four in a row to tie the set at 12-12 behind a flurry of aces from three different players. The Mustangs went on another run to claim a 20-17 lead, but
Leah Helman had back-to-back aces and senior
Sheyenne King knocked two kills to even it up at 22-all. With the set in extra points, the Chargers scored the final three points and won set one 26-24.
The next two sets did not go the Chargers' way, with Stevenson running away with both sets 25-10 and 25-12. LBC regrouped in the fourth set, starting slow but scoring four in a row to cut Stevenson's lead to two. A 6-1 run in the middle of the set featured three kills from

Ashlynn Fisher landed an ace to help LBC pull ahead 18-16. After some jostling back and forth, the Chargers claimed set four 25-22 and forced a deciding fifth set.
Set five started off tied 4-4, but Lancaster Bible got four straight points to flip the court at 8-4. Stevenson did not go away, tying the game at 10-10 and again at 12-12. It was the Mustangs that prevailed, rallying late with three straight kills to hold on in five and end the Chargers' five-game winning streak.

Information to Know:
This was the Chargers' first-ever win over Elizabethtown, having lost the previous 15 matches but prevailing today over the Blue Jays. Meanwhile, Stevenson is now 19-1 over the Chargers all-time, winning 13 in a row over LBC dating back to 2004. The Chargers' win over E-Town made it a second 5-game winning streak of the season, and 12 wins before October is their most since 2018 when they entered October 11-5. Additionally, the all three of the Chargers' losses thus far in 2024 have been five-set affairs. Senior

Leah Helman now has 307 digs this season, the highest mark in the United East Conference so far this year and putting her on pace to set a season career-high in digs.
