Chargers Sink Gators at Home

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team hosted Notre Dame of Maryland University on Tuesday night for a United East battle, prevailing 74-60 in front of the home crowd. The Chargers improve to 10-6 overall and 5-2 in the United East, while the Gators drop to 7-9 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

How it Happened:
Graduate student Grant Sareyka got the scoring started in the opening seconds with a quick layup, then the Chargers raced to a 6-2 lead after back-to-back fastbreak layups from junior Luke Rumbaugh. The Gators rallied and went up four points with about 12 minutes to go in the first half, but a layup and a fastbreak 3-pointer from Sareyka gave LBC the lead back at 20-16. The Chargers led by as many as 12 points in the first half, with junior Reaves Hooks drilling a pull-up three and then finding sophomore Daniel King under the basket for an easy two. Notre Dame (Md.) cut into the lead, but a big block from Rumbaugh to end the half sent the Chargers into the break up 35-30.

The second half began tight as both teams hit early free throws back and forth. The Chargers got back to a double-digit lead after a layup from graduate student Jordan Praylow and a jumper from Rumbaugh, then again after free throws from King. The second half belonged to sophomore Connor Storr, scoring 14 points on efficient shooting to keep the Chargers an arm's length away from the Gators down the stretch. Solid free throw shooting down the stretch and a few key takeaways helped finish of the win at home for LBC as they won 74-60.

By the Numbers:
- The Chargers shot 54-percent from the field, 32-percent from deep, and 70-percent on free throws, while the Gators shot 37-percent from the field, 13-percent from deep, and 74-percent on free throws
- Connor Storr led the Chargers with a season-high 20 points, adding seven rebounds
- Luke Rumbaugh added a season-high 18 points and five rebounds
- Grant Sareyka and Daniel King each scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively
- The Gators were led by Chandler Johnson with a team-high 12 points

Information to Know:

Grant Sareyka reached 1,900 career points tonight with 12 in the game, becoming just the third player in program history to amass 1,900+ points in a Charger uniform.
