The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team opened United East Conference play for the new year on Saturday afternoon beating the Rosemont Ravens 81-62 at home. The Chargers move to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in conference extending their win streak to three games. The Ravens drop to 3-11 overall and 1-4 in conference.
How It Happened: It was a slow start for both teams as they remained tied 6-6 just under five minutes into the game. A three-point play converted by
Maureon Tisdale-Couch got things rolling for the Chargers as they proceeded to go on a 30-13 run highlighted by several key defensive plays. As the defensive pressure turned over the Ravens 20 times in the first half, the Chargers were able to score several layups in transition. The Chargers went to halftime with a 43-25 lead in front of the home crowd.
The second half was much of the same as the Chargers kept the defensive intensity.
Grant Sareyka shined in the second half pouring in 19 points.
Camden Hurst added in eight points for the second half while
Nile Austin finished the game with five steals and chipped in eight points.
By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 47-percent from the field, 28-percent from three, and 50-percent from the line… the Ravens shot 53-percent from the field, 22-percent from three, and 63-percent from the free throw line… the Chargers forced 33 turnovers scoring 37 points off them and added 26 fastbreak points… Sareyka led with a game high 31 points going 12-19 from the field and 4-8 from three adding five steals… Hurst had 15 points and Austin finished with eight points and five steals…
Luke Rumbaugh also had eight points, four assists, and three steals… Dejuan Taylor had 14 points for the Ravens. Â
