The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team hosted a tri-match in the Horst Athletic Center on Saturday, defeating both Wilkes and Rutgers-Newark in 3-0 sweeps for two wins on the day. The Chargers improve to 5-7 overall while the Lady Colonels move to 9-4 overall and the Scarlet Raiders fall to 6-6 overall.

The Chargers owned the service line early as junior

Faith Rex landed service aces to help LBC race to an 8-2 lead. Two kills by junior
Lea Sareyka highlighted another four-point run for a 12-4 advantage. The Chargers ended the set with four straight points with another kill from Sareyka and back-to-back aces by sophomore
Candace Fox to wrap the set 25-13.

Riley Dodrer got LBC a 10-5 advantage. Wilkes went on a four-point spurt to pull within one, but the Chargers answered back loudly with seven straight points including three kills from Sareyka to pull ahead. The Chargers maintained the lead and closed out set two 25-15 to go up 2-0 in the match at home.
Sareyka started set three with an ace, then Stenberg landed two aces in a row as the Chargers stormed to a 7-1 lead. The Lady Colonels put together their largest run of the match at five points, owning the middle of the set as they won 12 out of 15 points to take a 17-15 lead in the set. The Chargers put that to rest with five points in a row, with two aces from Sareyka deflating the charge. Wilkes tied the set at 22-22 late, but the Chargers closed it out on two aces in row by Fox to win 25-22 and sweep the Lady Colonels.

Ashby Brummer got the Chargers on the board with a solo block, then kills from
Jessica Fletcher and
Eden Belford kept the score even in set one. Down 5-4, the Chargers exploded for eight straight points featuring four service aces by
Candace Fox, then after two points by Rutgers-Newark, LBC put up nine in a row with four kills from
Lea Sareyka to secure a huge lead at 21-7. Senior
Jessica Hendricks had a block and a kill down the stretch and Belford closed out the set with a kill for a 25-10 set win.
The Chargers struggled to open set two as the Scarlet Raiders rattled off six straight points for an 8-4 lead. The Chargers chipped away with scattered kills and aces from Sareyka and
Faith Rex, tying the match at 17-17 on a kill by
Riley Dodrer. The lead swung in favor of LBC after three straight points, then the set ended on a Charger run of four points with Belford closing out the set once again with two kills to win it 25-20.
The teams battled back and forth early in set three with four ties, then a
Madison Timberlake ace gave LBC the lead and Brummer later had a block to tie the set back up at 9-9. Rutgers-Newark led by as many as three in the set, but the Chargers retook the lead on a four-point run behind two aces by Belford to force a timeout. After the timeout, the Chargers raced ahead with six straight points with a kill and three aces by Fletcher, with LBC maintaining that lead to the end and closing out the set for a third time with a Belford kill to win 25-20 and complete the six-set sweep on the day at home.

Information to Know:
The Chargers are 8-1 all-time against Wilkes with six straight wins dating back to 2016 and played the Scarlet Raiders for the first time. The Chargers have their first three-game win streak of 2025 and their first overall since Oct. 29 to Nov. 12, 2024 when they won six straight games including playoffs.
Lea Sareyka surpassed 100 career service aces with today's games in the books, making her the 23rd player in program history to do so. Sareyka also topped 100 kills on the season with 123 and has four straight games with 10+ kills.
Madeline Reed had 30 assists in a game for the first time this season against Wilkes and leads the Chargers with 203 assists this season.
Madison Timberlake passed 600 career digs today, the 22nd player in program history to reach the milestone.
