Men's Track & Field Mark Rowles

Chargers Set Eight School Records at Messiah

The Lancaster Bible College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams traveled to Grantham, Pa. from Thursday to Saturday to compete in the Messiah Multi/Invitational hosted by Messiah University, breaking eight school records with a handful of NCCAA qualifications on Saturday as well.
 
*(The Chargers also sent a few athletes to compete in the Millersville Metrics Meet last Friday, with Seana Dougherty (So.) qualifying for NCCAA in the 10,000-Meters with a time of 42:14.06 and Emery McCombs (So.) setting a program record in the Hammer Throw at 40.76 Meters, with both him and Hudson Gosselin (Fr.) qualifying for NCCAA in the event as Gosselin threw for 40.66 Meters).*
 
Track Action
 
The Men's team had one school record fall on the track as David Helms (Jr.) set a new program-best in the 5,000-Meters, finishing in a time of 15:17.71 to claim third place in the event. Karahn Garfield-Cotton set season-bests in the 100-Meters (11.62) and the 200-Meters (23.90), while Gavin Hunter (Fr.) set a personal record with a time of 23.11 in the 200-Meters and Kingsiah Oquendo (Fr.) and Nate Costume (Fr.) set personal-bests at 25.47 and 27.03 respectively in the event. Victor Hanley (Fr.) took on the 3,000M Steeplechase, finishing with a time of 12:34.89 in his first time running the event. In the relays, the tandem of Hunter, Jaden Royal (Jr.), Oquendo, and Amari Williams (So.) placed seventh in the 4x400M Relay with a time of 3:41.25.
 
The Women's team set two school records on the track on Saturday, starting with Lizzie Dimov (So.) tying the 100-Meters program record with a time of 13.31, placing 34th out of 55 and tying Faith Garber (Jr.)'s record set in 2024. Also on the track was Abby Ames (Jr.), setting a new school record in the 1,500-Meters with a time of 5:08.98 and placing ninth in the event. Seana Dougherty and Cadee Cameron (So.) both placed in the top-10 in the 5,000-Meters, with Dougherty placing fourth with a time of 19:24.82 (NCCAA qualification) and Cameron landing in seventh with a time of 19:54.55. Mycah Wilkinson (Fr.) also made her debut in the 5K, finishing with a time of 27:09.31. Rosa Johnson (Jr.) represented LBC in the 10,000-Meters, finishing with a time of 51:04.07.
 
Field Action
 
The Men's Team set three new school records in individual field events and one in a multi event, also with two NCCAA qualifications on Saturday. In the jumps, Landon Zeiset (Fr.) and Chase Gerber (Jr.) each recorded a height of 1.77 Meters in the High Jump, tying for 11th in the event, while Ethan Gonzalez (Fr.) jumped for 1.72 Meters, setting a personal best and jumping for 5.45 Meters in the Long Jump as well. Zeiset showed out in the Long Jump, setting a new program record with a distance of 6.78 Meters and placing second overall out of 41 finishers, just 4.5 inches off the top spot and qualifying for the NCCAA Outdoor Championships. Aidan Miller (So.) placed sixth in the Triple Jump at 12.70 Meters to round out the jumps. In the throws, Emery McCombs set a new program record in the Hammer Throw with a sling of 41.44 Meters for 13th in the event, adding throws of 12.58 Meters in the Shot Put and 32.74 Meters in the Discus Throw. Kyle Durkin placed fourth overall in the Javelin Throw, breaking the program record once again with a throw of 56.02 Meters and ranking him 41st in all of NCAA Division III in the event. Lucas Durkin (Sr.) set personal-bests in both the Discus Throw (34.63 Meters) and the Hammer Throw (33.98 Meters) as well. In the Decathlon, Micah Richardson (Sr.) set a program record with 5,229 total points, placing fourth overall in the event and second in the 100-Meter Dash and Long Jump portions of the three-day event. Richardson also set personal bests in four events during the Decathlon, including 100-Meters (11.81), 400-Meters (54.80), Discus Throw (26.13 Meters), and Pole Vault (3.45 Meters).
 
The Women's team had one school record and one NCCAA qualification each in the field. In the jumps, Elly Bruner tied for second in the High Jump with a season-best height of 1.56 Meters, adding a distance of 4.91 Meters in the Long Jump on the day as well. Rachel Nolt (Jr.) set a new program record in the Long Jump, becoming the first Charger in program history with a five-meter jump at 5.01 Meters and placing 14th in the event. In the throws, Martha Weaver (Jr.) qualified for NCCAA Championships in the Hammer Throw at 38.42 Meters to crack the top-10 in the event for the day, also throwing for a sixth-place finish in the Shot Put at 11.26 Meters and 26.68 Meters in the Discus Throw. Vera Innerst (So.) set a season-best in the Discus Throw at 25.63 Meters while McKayla Vetterani (So.) set a personal-best mark of 25.19 Meters in the Hammer Throw.
