Not having played in a week because of Fall Break, Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball Head Coach Lauren Mable was a little worried about her team heading into Tuesday night's match with Penn State-Berks.
After battling back-and-forth for much of the first set, the Chargers seized the momentum and cruised to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Nittany Lions. Senior
Lauren Robertson led the way with 10 kills.
LBC won 25-21, 25-22, 25-18.
"We took control of that first game after they [Penn State] held it for a lot of that set," Mable said. "It shows our mental toughness and how we have improved this season."
Sophomore
Brittney Becker added 18 digs and three aces, while fellow sophomore
Elissa Hunsberger added eight kills, eight digs and 13 assists.
The Chargers (14-12) practiced Monday, their first since the previous Wednesday, and Mable wasn't sure how that would affected the performance of the team. They responded by improving each set and limiting PSU-Berks' scoring opportunities.
"It's good to win after Fall Break, no matter who we play," Mable said.
LBC held a 31-17 advantage in kills over the Nittany Lions (7-11).
The Chargers are back in action on Thursday when they host a tri-match that features Grace Bible (Mich.) and Goucher. LBC will take on Grace at 4:00 p.m. and Goucher at 7:00 p.m. Prior to the Goucher contest, the Chargers will honor their seniors, Robertson and
Alishia Landis.
