Reichard's Two First Half Goals Lead Chargers Past Bison, 4-0

Hannah Reichard scored two goals in the first half as the Lancaster Bible College breezed past visiting Gallaudet, 4-0 on Senior Day.

Honoring their lone senior, Becka Hixson, prior to the game, LBC started quickly, scoring 10 minutes into the game. Reichard put home a rebound off a Kristina Clairmont shot at the 10:34 mark to open the scoring. She added her second goal at the 34:10 mark off a crossing pass from Ally Brown. The goals were Reichard's eighth and ninth of the season.

Whitney Heise scored her 12th goal of the season with just over three minutes remaining in the first half to extend the lead to three. Brown notched her seventh goal of the year five minutes into the second half to cap the scoring.

LBC Head Coach Ken Craul said he was pleased with the effort, especially because the team was playing for the second time in its many days.

"I thought we played well and this is a good experience to play on back-to-back days, because we may need to do it in the post-season," Craul said. "We still need to maintain our focus and be able to play our style of soccer against anyone."

Hixson, who started her 73rd straight game for the Chargers, recorded two shots for LBC (12-5). A scoring midfielder for her first three seasons at LBC, Hixson has taken to her defensive role on this season's team and excelled.

"She is just a very well-rounded player," Craul said. "She knows the game and has made a great adjustment from midfield to defense this season."

Craul also credited Hixson as being one of the vocal leaders this past off-season when the team made a decision to work harder and get back to basics.

"She was one of the players who took it upon herself to make sure players did their workouts this summer and she has backed up wanting more by performing better and upping her work ethic," Craul said.

The Chargers, winners of four straight games for the second time this season, will wrap up their regular season on Saturday at Hood.

"The games we play the rest of the season are big games," Craul said. "It's not just about the wins and losses, but the fact we want to play well at the end of our season. We have beaten every team we were supposed to and now it is time to beat some of the stronger teams that are on our schedule."

Craul said the team is taking one game at a time at this point in the season.

"We are not looking ahead and cannot afford to do that," Craul said. "Every game is big now and we have to make sure our focus is on that day's opponent all of the time."

After facing Hood on Saturday, the Chargers will take on Philadelphia Biblical University on Tuesday in the NCCAA East Region Semi-Finals. Game time is yet to be determined. LBC defeated PBU, 4-1 earlier in the season in Langhorne, Pa.
