Hixson's Goal the Difference as LBC Beats PBU, 1-0

Chargers Advance to East Region Final for First Time Since 2004

The fifth time was the charm for the Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team. After four straight years of defeat to Philadelphia Biblical University in the NCCAA East Region Semi-Finals, the Chargers finally beat the Crimson Eagles, 1-0 on Tuesday to advance to their first NCCAA East Region Final since 2004.

Becka Hixson's free kick from 22 yards out at the 17:37 mark of the first half was the difference.

"Becka is so consistent on those types of chances," LBC Head Coach Ken Craul said. "Her or Jenna Godwin usually take our free kicks and this time it was Becka and it paid off for us."

LBC (13-6) controlled play for much of the game and relied on goalkeeper Emily Lloyd to make just four saves. The shutout was Lloyd's sixth this season. The Chargers out shot the Crimson Eagles, 18-4 and held an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.

The Chargers will face Baptist Bible College in the NCCAA East Region Final on Saturday. LBC lost to BBC earlier in the season, 2-0 in Clarks Summit, Pa. Craul expects the same type of game the teams played in September.

"It is going to be up and down like it was earlier this year," Craul said. These are two good teams and unlike today, we are going to be the underdog heading up there. It's a role we like and we are excited to play them again."

The only other time these teams have played in the NCCAA East Region Final was in 2004 when the Defenders beat the Chargers, 4-3 in Lancaster, Pa. Both teams advanced to NCCAA Nationals however as LBC got an at-large bid.

Notes:
-LBC defeated PBU twice in one year for the first time in school history.

-The Chargers are now, 3-9-2 all-time against the Crimson Eagles.
