After seeing their four-game winning streak come to an end last Tuesday in a 3-0 loss to Albright, the Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team had to wait six days to get their frustrations out and correct their mistakes.
The visiting Giants from Keystone College paid the price of the long wait on Monday as the Chargers won, 4-0 and dominated every facet of the game.
Hannah Reichard scored twice for the Chargers who improved to 7-4 on the year with the win.
Jenna Godwin and
Becka Hixson each scored their first goals of the season to cap the scoring for LBC.
"This was a good rebound from how we played against Albright," LBC Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "We had some great combo plays today and played well despite the rain and mud."
Whitney Heise added two assists, while
Ally Brown picked up her team-leading seventh assist of the season. Leading 3-0 at halftime, the Chargers were able to play many of their reserves, which Craul sees as a positive.
"It's great to get some of the bench players in there again because now we can make adjustments with them," Craul said. "It's one thing to watch them in practice and direct them, but when you can show them in a game different things they can do, it really helps."
The Chargers only play one more time this week, but it will be against NCCAA East Region rival Valley Forge Christian. The game, in Phoenixville, Pa., has playoff implications for both teams. Having beaten Philadelphia Biblical already this season, if the Chargers win, it will assure them at least one home playoff game.
"We need to play well," Craul said. "It's a region opponent and though we have had success against them, we can't look at the past, we need to play our type of game."
LBC takes on the Patriots Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
