Fall Sports' Practices Underway at LBC

Practices for fall sports began at Lancaster Bible College on Thursday morning. Teams took to the field and court for the first time in preparation for the 2010 season. Three of the teams (Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer and Women's Volleyball) have just under two weeks to prepare for their season openers, which will be on September 1.

Instead of a story documenting the day's events. Below are coaches and players' quotes describing the first practice or workout of the season.

"It went well, but there is lots of work to do." - Lawrence Lartey, junior, men's soccer

"It was good, pretty hot outside this morning, but exciting to be out here." - Kyle Zook, senior, men's soccer

"Our endurance test went well. It is a great way for people to push and prove themselves. It is kind of a measuring stick for someone's dedication. I always think I could have pushed myself harder after it is finished, but I'm happy with how it went." - Peggy Compton, junior, women's volleyball

"Our first practice went well. It was hard, but we I can tell we are improving and going somewhere because we are working hard." - Amanda Bracelin, sophomore, women's soccer

"It felt good. I think we have a strong team and everyone is here to play." - Jenna Godwin, junior, women's soccer

"It is great to see 21 girls show up today. It is motivating for everyone to see good competition in practice.  I was impressed with our first workout. Everyone is in pretty good shape." - Ken Craul, Women's Soccer Head Coach

"We have a couple of big holes to fill, particularly in goal. If we can solve that problem, I think we will be OK. We got deeper as a team. I'm not sure if there is more talent than last year, but we are definitely much deeper." - Josh Beers, Men's Soccer Head Coach

"This has been the smoothest first day of preseason in my four years here. The athletes are prepared, but still excited and nervous for their first day, which is good." - Nicki Plumbo, Head Athletic Trainer

"It's chaotic, and I love it." - Pete Beers, Director of Athletics
