After playing poorly for the first two sets of their match on Monday night against Lycoming, the Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team decided to make a match of it.
Using timely offense and capitalizing on Lycoming's errors, the Chargers battled back to make it 2-2 before falling in five sets, 3-2. The visiting Warriors won, 25-23, 25-16, 24-26, 20-25, 15-9.
LBC (3-5) was led by
Peggy Compton who had 14 kills, 13 digs and 13 assists.
Hailee Growden chipped in with 12 kills and 16 assists.
"We had too many unforced errors and did not adjust well to they Lycoming players," LBC Head Coach
Lauren Bewley said. "Our defense did not play as well as it normally does and our communication was not very solid."
Shelby Gear led the Warriors with 14 kills, while Katelyn McKillop had 25 assists and eight digs.
"We can learn from a lot of the things we did and did not do tonight, but the goal is to learn in practice as well so we can apply what we learn in practice during matches," Bewley said.
Bewley said she hopes to see improvement in the team's defense as well as correcting the unforced errors before Friday's tri-match with Messiah and Elizabethtown so they can use Friday as a stepping stone for the rest of the season.
"We obviously want to play well on Friday, but our goal is to be the best team at the end of the year," Bewley said. "That is a newer approach for us and something we need to work on."
The Chargers will take on Elizabethtown (6:30 p.m) and Messiah (8:30 p.m.) on Friday night at Elizabethtown.
