The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team scored four unanswered goals, including three in the second half, to defeat Mount Aloysius, 4-1, Wednesday in Cresson, Pa.
Ally Brown led the Chargers (3-3) with a goal and two assists.
Danielle Musselman,
Hannah Reichard and
Kristina Clairmont also scored for LBC.
After giving up a goal to the Mounties' Sara Bibby in the 14th minute, the Chargers and Mounties played evenly until Clairmont's goal with just over a minute in the first half, tied it at 1-1.
"We came out flat in the first half," LBC Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "We relied on last year's effort [A 5-0 LBC victory], but we responded well in the second half."
Brown's goal in the 70th minute broke the tie and gave the Chargers a lead they would not relinquish.
"We told the girls that we must forget what we did last year against teams and start every game with a high level of urgency," Craul said.
Musselman and Reichard scored two minutes apart in the 87th and 89th minue to ice the game for the Chargers. Reichard's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
Craul said he is pleased with how the players are beginning to trust one another.
"Another good thing is to see that we are starting to trust players who are calling for the ball and are starting to distribute the ball to them when they are open," Craul said. "It resulted in a goal for us today and will do so in the future as well."
LBC finishes their tough stretch of three road games in five days on Friday when they face Washington Adventist University at 4:00 p.m. in Takoma Park, Md.
