Team Effort Helps Chargers Beat Crimson Eagles

For the first time since 2004, there is a "W" on the schedule page next to the Philadelphia Biblical University game. The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team swarmed the Crimson Eagles' defense and earned a, 4-1 win on Tuesday in Langhorne, Pa.

Ally Brown, Danielle Musselman, Whitney Heise and Hannah Reichard all scored for the Chargers. Sophomore Kelsee McLaughlin recorded two assists for LBC.

"We played one of our most physical games of the season," LBC Head Coach Ken Craul said. "We forced a lot of turnovers in the offensive end after we had lost possession of the ball."

LBC (5-3) out shot the Crimson Eagles by a margin of 15-6 and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. LBC goalkeeper Emily Lloyd made five saves to earn her fifth win of the season.

"The team is starting to rely on each other and the 'game' is becoming much easier," Craul said.

Despite beating PBU for the first time since much of the current team was in middle school, the team knows it needs to think about what lies ahead, not what has happened.

"We will enjoy each victory only the day of the game and start to focus on our next opponent tomorrow at practice," Craul said.

That next opponent is The College of Notre Dame [Md.] on Thursday at Charger Field. The Gators and Chargers tied, 2-2 last season in Baltimore, Md. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
