The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team scored four first half goals and breezed past The College of Notre Dame [Md.], 5-2.
Ally Brown,
Danielle Musselman and
Karyn Harkness each scored in a five minute span in the middle of the first half. Musselman finished the day with a goal and two assists, while Brown added an assist to her goal.
Whitney Heise capped the first half scoring in the 38th minute and
Kristina Clairmont scored her sixth goal of the season in the 52nd minute.
"We have been stressing in practice that we have to work as a team and have to have good runs to score goals," LBC Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "We are getting better touches on the ball and that is giving us better opportunities to score goals."
Musselman's goal gives her five for the season, already three more than she had during the 2009 campaign.
"Dani and some of the other players from last season's team gave themselves a self-evaluation of how we played last year and are asking a lot of good questions this year," Craul said. "They are beginning to make adjustments adn we are getting more production from all of them."
With the game in-hand at halftime, many of the LBC starters took a seat and watched the bench players play for 45 minutes. Craul was happy those players got the opportunity to show what they can do.
"It is important to build our depth," Craul said. "It's great they got to go out there and perfect their skills in a game situation."
Craul was especially pleased with freshman Mariana Bewersdorff.
"Marianna played well and made some great decisions on the field," Craul said.
With the weekend off, the Chargers will rest and prepare for a tough Albright College team, who they will host on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
"Tuesday will be another measuring stick game for us," Craul said. "They are good and it will be a nice test for us to see where we are."
