With the way the Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team is playing, when they scored 1:27 into the game on Thursday against St. Elizabeth, one might assume that would be the game-winner and the next 88:33 would be somewhat moot. It turns out that the game-winner came at the 4:33 mark when
Whitney Heise scored her 11th goal of the season.
The visiting Eagles scored once, but not before the Chargers had found the back of the net six times as LBC rolled to another decisive win, 6-1. The win, LBC's 13th straight, improves the squad to 13-1 overall and 8-0 in NEAC play.
Six different goal scorers,
Monica Horning, Heise,
Olivia Rentzel,
Kristina Clairmont,
Amanda Bracelin and
Ally Brown, had goals for LBC who won by five or more goals for the fifth time this season.
"We wanted to correct some of the things we struggled with on Tuesday at PBU," Chargers' Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "We talked about using the whole field and stretching the defense and I think we did that for the most part today."
Rentzel's goal was the first of her collegiate career and she added an assist as well. Bracelin and Heise also added an assist to their goal as well.
Evelyn Stauffer,
Danielle Musselman and
Jenna Godwin also had assists for the Chargers.
"I thought we possessed the ball well and had good consecutive touches," Craul said.
Craul was also happy to get more of his bench players time on the field.
"We have a few players banged up and it is always great to get bench players playing time, because you never know when they are going to be called upon to perform," Craul said.
LBC returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Utica, New York to battle SUNYIT. SUNYIT is currently in fourth place in the NEAC, while the Chargers remain in first place. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Notes:
-11 different LBC players have scored a goal this season.
-LBC has outscored NEAC opponents 37-4 this season.
