LBC Passes Test, Extends Winning Streak to 11

You might think winning 11 straight games would be difficult and a team would have to pass many tests along the way. For the Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team, outside of the overtime win that got the streak started, they hadn't been tested. Four of the games they had won by five goals or more and all of them came by more than one goal.

Saturday however, the test finally came in the form of Penn St. Harrisburg. The Nittany Lions, last year's runner-up in the NEAC, scored first and led 1-0 after a goal by Nikki Francis, 11 minutes into the second half. The Chargers though, did not panic and scored three times in the final 29:31 to win their 11th straight game and move to 11-1 overall and 7-0 in the NEAC.

Ally Brown scored her 13th goal of the year with 29:31 to go to tie the score at 1-1 and Whitney Heise put the Chargers ahead eight minutes later with her 10th goal of the year.

"The kids played well and didn't panic when we got behind," Chargers' Head Coach Ken Craul said. "We maintained our composure and stuck with our game plan."

Freshman Evelyn Stauffer scored with 56 seconds to go to put the game away.

"Penn St. Harrisburg is a good team and they made us work hard today," Craul said. "It was a very good test for our squad."

LBC goalkeeper Emily Lloyd made three saves for her 11th win of the year.

The Chargers out shot the Nittany Lions, 15-8, but Penn St. Harrisburg held a 7-6 advantage in shots.

LBC will travel to Langhorne, Pa. on Tuesday to take on Philadelphia Biblical at 3:30 p.m. With a win, LBC would clinch home-field advantage in the NCCAA East Region playoffs.
