Box Score Who needs off days?
After winning three games in four days, maybe the Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team doesn't need time off. The Chargers won their sixth straight game and third straight NEAC contest on Monday evening, defeating Penn St. Abington, 2-1 at Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, Pa.
The game also served as a bit of revenge for LBC as the last time these two teams met, the Nittany Lions won the NEAC title on Lancaster's home field. Monday night however, the Chargers would not give up a second half lead like they did 11 months ago.
Ally Brown, hampered by various injuries so far this season, scored her first goal of the season and added an assist as LBC moved to 8-3 overall and 5-1 in NEAC play.
Monica Horning scored in her fourth straight game, while
Whitney Heise added her sixth assist of the season as well.
"Even though we scored early in the game again, I felt like we started slow," Chargers' Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "We scored on a counter attack and were able to settle in a bit after 12 to 15 minutes."
Despite playing their third game in four days, Craul said the Chargers were able to keep up with the Nittany Lions' quick pace of play.
"Play was at a fast pace and the game was pretty physical," Craul said. "But the win is a great way to end a very tough four days."
The Chargers are off until Friday when they will face Wilson at 2:30 p.m. at Charger Field. LBC will take the field less than 24 hours later when they host Penn St. Harrisburg for Homecoming at 1 p.m.
