Box Score Now this is the Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team we all remember.
After being shutout in their first two games of the 2012 season, the Chargers won 9-0 on Friday and continued the trend with a 6-1 victory over Cazenovia on Saturday. Senior
Whitney Heise had a hat trick, the third of her career and the most in school history, to lead LBC.
Kathryn Ritter,
Bethany Stein and
Evelyn Stauffer also scored for the Chargers.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play.
Leading 3-0 at halftime, LBC scored two more goals in the first 2:43 of the second half, to take a commanding 5-0 lead.
"I actually thought we played better in the second half," Chargers' Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "We were a little too bunched in the first half and even though we scored three goals in each half, I thought our spacing was much better in the second half."
LBC goalkeeper
Emily Lloyd made four saves, while the Chargers outshot the Wildcats (1-2-1), 22-8.
"It's good we have built some confidence as a team," Craul said. "We are playing as a team and starting to see some things from practice show up in games. Bethany made an adjustment today on the goal she scored. Two games ago, she misplayed that same ball and today she scores. It's nice to see."
The Chargers take to the road for the next three games as they battle Penn St. Berks, Baptist Bible and Penn St. Abington over the next 10 days. First up is a trip to Reading on Tuesday to take on Penn St. Berks. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
Notes:
-Heise's last hat trick came in last season's NEAC Semi-Finals when she had three goals and an assist in the Chargers' 4-0 win.
-The 15 goals over the past two games is one short of the team record for goals in a two-game span. The 2004 team beat Mount Aloysius, 7-0 and Valley Forge Christian, 9-0 in back-to-back games.
