Offense Explodes as Chargers Crush Patriots

Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team clinched the second seed in the NCCAA East Region playoffs on Tuesday by drubbing Valley Forge Christian, 9-0 at Charger Field. The Chargers scored seven goals in the first half, including three by freshman Branden Peiffer. The goals were the first three of Peiffer's collegiate career as he and the Chargers rebounded from Saturday's 2-0 Homecoming loss to Widener.

In addition to Peiffer's three goals, Brandon Wilcox, Bradley Wilcox, Josiah Groff, Ben Noel, Cody Rupp and Alex Vocature also scored for LBC. Not only did both Wilcox brothers score, but they assisted on one another's goals as well. The goals by Noel and Rupp were also the first goals of their collegiate careers.

LBC (3-6-1) outshot the Patriots (1-12), 31-3 and held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks. The Chargers have scored eight or more goals against Valley Forge Christian in each of their past three meetings and now lead the all-time series, 41-7-1. The Patriots have not beaten the Chargers since 2000 when they won, 5-3 in Lancaster.

Junior Nate Grimley added assist total with an assist on Peiffer's second goal, while Matt Nargi added two assists. The nine goals scored by LBC are the most since they defeated Williamson Trade, 9-1 on Oct. 5, 2009.

The Chargers are back in action on Friday when they play their first NEAC contest since Sept. 15 when they lost to SUNYIT, 2-0. LBC will host Wells at 2 p.m. as they close out their final seven games of the regular season with six NEAC contests.
